FRIVOLOUS CASES  

• Investigations conducted into a large number of alleged Human Right cases against the Army have revealed
  that no operations were launched by the Army on the date and area specified in these cases.
• Persons alleged to have been killed by the Army were found to be alive, safe and sound.   
• During investigations, many relatives of the complainants admitted that they had filed cases under duress from terrorists. 

FACTS OF NORTHERN AREAS : DO YOU KNOW?

• Every resident of the Northern Areas has to report to the police station once a month.
• Literacy rate : 14% for males  and 3.5% for females, against 64.4% for Jammu and Kashmir.
• Only 12 High Schools and two Regional Colleges.
• Locals who join the Govt services are paid 25 percent less than the normal wages.
• One doctor for 6000 people.
• Piped water supply is virtually non existent.
• Two thirds of the population is without electricity.
