Exhibition on Indo-Bhutan Friendship by HQ IMTRAT
With a view to expose young minds of Bhutan to the cordial and warm relations between the two countries, a painting competition for children, under the theme, ‘Painting the Future of Friendship’, was organised at Samdrup Jonkhar Middle Secondary School. With this, HQ IMTRAT took a step further in promoting creativity and warmth of the impressionable and active minds of the children.
Change of Ceremonial Guard at Rashtrapati Bhawan
From time immemorial, guards and sentries at Forts & palaces used to change periodically, to enable a fresh body of soldiers to take charge. Change of the Guard is an age old Military tradition, dating back to the raising of the President’s Bodyguard with 50 handpicked horsemen in 1773, then called ‘The Guard of Moguls’. Since independence, the Rashtrapati Bhawan has resounded to the beats of smartly turned soldiers, marching to the imposing columns, lining the two wings of the Central Secretariat, in perfect military tandem. This ceremony takes place every Saturday. 15 Jammu & Kashmir Rifles had the honour of performing this ceremony wef Sep 2009. The unit received appreciation from one and all for its exemplary standards as the Army Guard Batallion at Rashtrapati Bhawan.CO 15 JAK RIF handed over the reins of Army Guard to CO 28 MADRAS on 07 May 2011.
Seminar on Terrorism organised in Sri Lanka
Three officers represented India at the seminar on ‘Defeating Terrorism, Sri Lankan Experience,’ organised by the Sri Lankan Army in Colombo. The three day seminar opened on 31st May, with an address by the Army Commander, Lt Gen Jagath Jayasuriya, detailing the humanitarian operations carried out by the Sri Lankan Army during the final stages of the War.
