The Colours Presentation

The presentation of the Standards/Colours to an Est/Unit is a testimony of a nation's recognition of its heroic deeds and has thus caused them to be regarded with veneration. In a sense, they are an epitome of the history of the Regiment, the sight of which creates a feeling of pride in all ranks. On 22 Feb 1988, the then President of India, Shri R Venkataraman presented colours to MIRC and Mech Inf Bns at Ahmednagar. This was a unique event with no .known parallels in the world, where 14 colours were laid down and 24 Colours presented. The impressive parade was commanded by Brig MS Oberoi the then Commandant of MIRC. It remains till date the largest documented Colour Presentation ceremony held on a single occasion and has been accepted as a standard for Colour Presentation ceremonies in future. It was a treasured event which also finds a befitting place in Guinness Book of Records. Mech Inf was presented Colours on 04 Dec 1996 at Jodhpur by General Shankar Roy Chowdhary, PVSM, ADC, the then Chief of the Army Staff.
