Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) was established in 29 April 1983 under the Army Welfare Education Scheme as a registered society with Registrar of Societies, New Delhi.
The AWES is running 126 Army Schools/Army Public Schools and 13 Professional colleges spread all over the country. Approx 1.5 lac children are studying in AWES run educational institutions and nearly 7000 children are added every year.
AWES establishes and runs Army Schools at stations recommended by Commands.

It develops Army Schools, Army Public Schools & technical/vocational institutions to impart high quality education and technical/vocational training to children of Army persons including retired personnel.
It aims to prepare students for 10+2 stage of CBSE exams.
It promotes sports, co-curricular activities, discipline, personal character, high sense of values and national integration among army children.
It aims at gradually creating hostel facilities in selected stations.
